a few random queries

I've had a few things bouncing around my head the past week or two. Thought I'd share, for lack of a better post at this time.
First of all, I am on a quest for a better yogurt. I liked yogurt when I was a child. My mom bought the kind with fruit on the bottom, and I would eat the top of it. I don't love fruit, especially chunks of it in my yogurt. As a mother, I buy yoplait, which my kids really love. I don't like it, I think it's too sweet. I actually discovered in this quest that I like greek yogurt. It is hardly sweet at all, more like what you would find in a sippy cup of milk that got left in the car. HA! Greek yogurt is a little too expensive for regular consumption, though, compared to what I'm used to buying. I did try Wallaby (I think) and really liked it, but what are my other options? What kind of yogurt do you all prefer? (Jeni, I know you do yoplait...)
Let's see, what else? We need a new computer, for a number of reasons that I won't elaborate on at this time. Let's just say this one has been the raspberry seed in my wisdom tooth for too long. Brandon wants a Mac SO bad, but I think just because they look cool. Neither of us know much about computers at all. I am kind of against the mac, because the kids learn pc stuff at school. What do you guys all have/prefer? And what are the pros and cons of a laptop?
Another thing, won't it be nice when Angie b gets back from her dream vacation? I miss her comments in the blog world, plus I'm jealous of her.
Is it bad manners to read a blog and never comment on it?
And don't you think cold weather interspersed with the sunny days make the sunny ones even more pleasant? The old "opposition in all things", I guess...I love spring. :)

yes I do love the yoplait...custard style :) I'm all about the sugar..I have been wanting to try that wallaby kind...let me know what you decide :).

I'm no help on the computer...I'd like one of each, I'm just not motivated to re-learn how to use a mac, but I have heard they are amazing for creating things and VERY safe (I think they don't get viruses).

That's so funny you said that about angie b and I JUST barely changed my fb status about her! Crazy!!!! I can't wait to hear all about her trip and I miss her comments too...I miss everyone's comments when they're gone..leading into your next question..:)..

I don't think it's bad manners to sometimes not comment...maybe just when you never comment? This is a very good ethical question that I have been wondering about myself :)

And sunny days ARE so wonderful!

What a great post becky!

yogurt -- I like Dannon Light and Fit...purchased in the big containers to save money, vanilla so you can mix it with granola or fresh fruit. YUM.

Computers -- buy a mac for brandon and then purchase the $50 software that will convert it to a "PC" functioning computer for the kids.

Angie B -- who doesn't miss that girl.:) I'm soooo glad she went though. Perfect time of the year to get out of this cold.

Comments -- we all like them on our own blogs, we all skip commenting on others sometimes. hmmm?

take care -- haven't seen, heard from you in a while -- maybe I just haven't been commenting.:)

I have no comment on the yogurt - I haven't really found a kind I like either! I will be checking back for the answer! As for the computer, I have a mac and really have liked it. I was resistant at first but easily converted. I love having a laptop. So convenient. Elise uses Chris' pc and my mac interchangeably without any problems. She has never even noticed a difference!
Sometime I don't have anything to say so I don't leave a comment! I wish warmth would accompany the sun more often!

PS I have watched that rainy day video so many times I now can sing all the words too! Elise loves that song and sings it A LOT!!!! We have in all honesty cursed your name a few times for introducing her to that blessed song!

I have a MacBook Pro and L.O.V.E. it! I will never go back to PC. My kids are on PC at school but are really familiar with Mac too.

P.S. The yogurt here in Canada is SO different. They don't have yummy Yoplait Light...they have Yoplait but it's not the same stuff. They also have GoGurts but they are called "Tubes". I know...they are basically crap but my kids like them and it gets some protein down them! :)

I like Yoplait Yoplus. It is thicker, kind of like custard, doesn't have high fructose corn syrup or any artificial stuff, and plus it has fiber! What more could you ask for? I like vanilla best, since I don't like chunks of fruit, either, but even the fruit varieties don't have too big of chunks! (I am a yogurt guru, by the way).

Oh, and I don't think it's rude not to comment on blogs, and we are also in the market for a new laptop and I'm scouring the Consumer Reports at the moment... Haven't made a decision yet, but we've got a pretty tight budget. :) I didn't know Angie was gone, but I'm jealous of wherever she went, and yes, the sunny days are much more enjoyable crammed betwen several crummy days. There.

I know I like it when people do comment on my blog - but I don't always comment, especially when I am going to one from another one and I don't really know the person - I kind of feel stupid, like I'm not supposed to be on it.

I just left you a BIG comment and it got erased. I hate it when I do that.

I love Yoplait and Dannon light. Dannon had fewer calories and is cheaper so we usually do that one. The thought of left over mile in a sippy cup makes me gag. I am glad those days are gone for me. UGH.

I don't think it is rude to not leave a comment, but I love reading comments on my blog. It makes me feel loved and cared about. I hope you are feeling my love :)

Jeni said...

well now I can't stop thinking about this post and your quandaries...how about his one...
can one leave too many comments on others blogs? Sometimes I wonder if I leave too many and if people get sick of seeing all my comments :)
Well, there I go over analyzing everything again!
Ps: I love the song "The Story" on your blog. :)

Becky A said...

Jeni, I have that same issue. For some reason I commment on EVERY blog I read, except for maybe the hair ones or seriouslysoblessed and I, too, wonder if people get sick and tired of reading my comments. I love your comments, Jeni, especially since we frequent the same blogs. Sometimes I even feel like it's just me and you out there in the blogging world...
I feel loved, too, when I get comments, and Paige, I know what you mean about commenting on blogs that you just link to from others. I guess when I do that I don't comment, either. Ok, I have more to say, but I think I'll post it later this week...

Here is my two cents worth...
We get Dannons Light and Fit. I like the Vanilla but not the fruit.

I love, love, love my laptop. It is all I use. Love the convience.

As far as the comments, I don't think it's rude, but it makes me sooo happy when someone leaves a comment on my blog. This goes back to one of your orginial post "A lame comment is better than no comment." I like knowing who is checking in on my blogging world.

Ang, if you are reading all this welcome back!!! Can't wait to see pics:)

Diana said...

Becky, I love your comments - please keep them comming or I would be so sad:)

Jenny Kapp said...

So now that I came back to see what everyone else wrote, is it only appropriate to leave another comment? Oh the woes of blogging etiquette!

Jeni said...

heeeheeeheee Becky...I couldn't resist....check out my blog :)

"Lurking" is the second-best thing about blogging.

(I do like your comments on my blog though.)

Tell Brandon "congrats" on the big run Saturday! Any word about Ogden from Steph?

Thanks for the shout out girl! I missed all my favorite blogs.

I love these kind of posts....

I LOVE the song I wish I was a Punk Rocker.....never heard of it before!

Yogurt.....I am a Stoneyfield Girl! I love their Vanilla but lately I've been hooked on their plain and then I add frozen blueberries and almonds. It's organic so of course I love that...no hormones etc. I put just a dab of brown sugar in to sweeten it as much as I like.
I can't get over the greek yogurt price. I know it's supposed to be really good for ya. I also love the Wallaby but I just get the big Stoneyfield at target!

COmputer SChmuter! I want a Mac bad but only because they are so cute :)....I use the excuse that it's better for photographers but I really can't back up that statement because I don't know jack about computers! I say go for the Mac and get the cool green. Laptop sounds so convenient but I know it would drive Jake bonkers. I would have that thing attatched to my hip!

Oh back to yogurt....I love yoplaits keylime pie....it's dessert for me! Had it at the airport and they took it away! I wanted to tell them..."this is YOPLAIT...I spent a buck on this!"

And lastly I have wondered the same thing. It's so wierd you don't want people to feel like they need to comment but when you know someone reads it all the time and then never comments then I feel like it's just snooping. That is just my opinion. But only if you know the person.(if they don't have a blog then it's' different becuase people who don't have a blog don't comment and that's normal) I don't feel bad about not leaving comments for blogs that I don't really know (don't really read people I don't know anymore). Now everyone is going to have to think that they HAVE to leave a comment. No so just once in a while it's nice to know WHO is knowing every detal of your life that we are sharing!

After this HUGE message did you reallly miss my babbling comments???

And YES I LOVE spring.....it's around the corner!!

Hey Becky!! Love your cute questions! I have recently been wondering about the yogurt with the fruit on the bottom also?? And I am in need of a good yogurt- I always buy yoplait- but dont really love it!!
As for the computer-We have a brand new I-mac!! I didn't like it at all at first. Not very user friendly in my opinion, but it does have some neat features I'm slowly adapting to. I also have an HP laptop that I love!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! It is a problem with a laptop because I do take it everywhere with me. But it is an awesome little computer and so easy to use!
I love to have comments on my posts, I don't think there is such thing as a lame comment- any comment is good. I also love it when some random person who doesn't normaly comment on my blog-comments! Extra exciting!
And Angie B.-So glad you are home and I can't wait to hear about all your fun!!

Becky A said...

Wow, I feel so enlightened. Angie, so glad you are back! And I totally agree with all of your thoughts on the commenting thing...
and I KNEW you would have yogurt advice. I haven't tried the stoneyfield yet, although I knew that's what you ate. I don't think they have it at Harmon's, where I pick up my groceries.
Jodi, I want to see your new computer. and I agree with the "extra exciting" random commenter once in a while! :)

Angie said...

Well I was going to come back later and comment but all the talk about commenting has me feeling like commenting. I used comment 3 times in that last sentence which is why it's never a good idea to comment after midnight.

Annnnyhoots, I love that you and Jeni always leave comments on my blog. In fact, I almost don't feel like I can move onto another post if you two haven't commented. You gals are consistently positive and I love to hear from you. Of course, I love to hear from Comfy Pants as well but she's like me and sometimes reads blogs in catch up mode.

We just bought a new laptop and I didn't even consider a Mac because of the price. I just couldn't pay so much extra when all I really use the computer for are photoshop, facebook, blogging and billpaying. We bought a Toshiba laptop with the top of the line processor and mega gigs. I wanted a fast computer. Some computer people told me not to get hung up on the brand because it's the processor that really matters. I dislike HP's very much though.

I only read a few comments left previously, but did anybody mention frozen yogurt? Of course that's my favorite kind and I know it defeats the purpose of nutrition but it's the only info I can provide. When I'm trying to lose weight, I swear I lose more if I eat one Yoplait a day, but that could be all in my head. I was very disappointed when I found that fat-free Yoplait had high fructose corn syrup in it. I believe that ingredient is a big part of the increase in obesity rates.

I try to leave comments on my girlies blogs but opt out of leaving them on others simply because it's obvious that I have a hard time leaving short notes and I'm ashamed about it. As is evident with this comment, I have no shame on "Me & my party of 5." I feel quite at home here :)

Weight Watchers yogurt is so sweet even I can't eat it. I am a Yoplait light girl. Almost always go for Vanilla. Never tried Greek yogurt.

Computers? Good luck. My friends who have Macs all love them.

Bad manners not to comment on a blog? Probably. I seem to be the queen of bad manners & I am a notorious blog lurker. Trying to remedy my bad manners though. Look at me commenting.

Becky A said...

angie, so glad you feel at home. I love long comments. I almost don't want to post again, because this one has been so fun!
Debbie, you have the best manners of anyone I know.

Ellie McFreaken said...

Angie...I feel the same way. I know once Jeni and Becky have left a comment then I know my post is complete. Faithful!
I don't always comment so I guess I have bad manners too at times. Maybe "snooping" was too harsh of a word. Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Came back to listen to your playlist!
Are you a Tori AMos fan? Just wonder because you listen to alot of the same that I listened to back in the day. I used to listen to Vanessa Carlton's CD for two months straight.

Becky A said...

Love Tori Amos. I'm glad you all (well, Jeni and Angie b) are enjoying my playlist. I recently added a few new songs, and I put my blog on and crank up the volume whenever I'm in my kitchen. I just wish I had all of these songs on my ipod. Which is another blog post entirely...my ipod, that is...

Angie said...

I thought you were at 28 comments for some reason but that doesn't mean I'm giving up. I'll just keep coming back with random things that cross my mind today.

I do have one thing to add about the computer. Mine is still fast but it seemed to be running a little slower than in the beginning. I called Best Buy and they said it was because of the anti-virus software we installed. My Aunt got a bad virus on her new laptop so I guess I'll sacrifice. Her computer was in the shop for days. I'd have to be compensated with oxygen if that happened to me.

Definitely get a mac!! Kids adapt to whatever they're given. Mac's have so many fun features and they're very user friendly.

......the raspberry seed in my wisdom tooth....? That little sentence has given me a lot to ponder on.

Becky A said...

a quote from "The Music Man", Leesh.

Jeni said...

you know...I've been thinking about that raspberry seed quote...
I can tell I'm getting old because seeds stuck in my teeth are really starting to bother me...almost to the point that I'll avoid eating certain foods...almost.
